PMG
The Portfolio Management Group (PMG) is a multi-asset class investing group that sits within the Private Wealth Management Division at Goldman Sachs. PMG specializes in the discretionary management of portfolios across traditional and alternative asset classes and provides outsourced CIO services to private clients as well as select institutions.
The team leverages and combines the independent strategic and tactical asset allocation framework of the Investment Strategy Group (ISG) of Private Wealth Management, a rigorous investment process and an open-architecture investment platform, to construct customized risk-focused portfolios.
YOUR IMPACT
The successful candidate will be a senior member of the investment team of PMG, responsible for management and construction of multi-asset class portfolios in line with PMG investment philosophy, client guidelines and regulatory constraints.
The candidate will have the responsibility for the ongoing monitoring, portfolio construction and management of PMG model portfolios and bespoke client solutions.
The role is highly analytical and client-facing, focusing on developing and communicating multi-asset class solutions to Private Wealth Advisors and their clients/prospects.
Core Responsibilities
* Exercise leadership qualities and judgement, with expectation of being able to perform key portfolio management responsibilities within a few months after joining.
* Portfolio design, construction and oversight of model portfolios involving areas such as strategic asset allocation, investment manager/vehicle selection and oversight, risk/performance management and evaluation.
* Develop customized client portfolios, which includes running portfolio optimizations, investment manager/vehicle selection, and research on investment management products.
* Enhance the portfolio construction and active risk allocation framework for multi-asset portfolios to improve existing investment and decision-making processes.
* Work closely with experts from the Investment Strategy Group to review and optimize asset allocations and the External Investing Group to select and review investment managers, leveraging the existing expertise and resources of the firm.
* Communicate and develop materials for clients and prospects including investment-related analysis, client and prospect presentations and developing responses for client Request for Proposals (RFP).
* Contribute to client review activity and new business development across EMEA.
REQUIREMENTS
* 7+ years of practical work experience in asset management, manager selection or portfolio strategy research.
* Previous portfolio construction, risk management experience in a multi-asset portfolio context and ideally experience with risk management/portfolio construction systems (e.g. Barra, Axioma, Aladdin etc.) a plus.
* Solid understanding of portfolio construction and optimization processes and models – including drivers of return, risk control and portfolio construction techniques a must.
* Strong quantitative and analytical skills. Programming skills (e.g. VBA, Python, MathLab) a plus.
* Proficiency with Bloomberg, Refinitiv/Datastream, Morningstar Direct, or similar systems.
* Ability to communicate and market complex ideas and strategies to clients of varying levels of sophistication. The successful candidate must have the confidence and credibility to persuasively interact with colleagues, management, and clients.
* Strong interest in the financial markets and a good investment sense/commercial instinct.
* Highly organized individual able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
* A self-starter with the ability to work efficiently and multi-task effectively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
* Additional European language skills (French, Spanish, Italian) preferred but not required.
