Assistant Team Leader – Weekend Warriors Children’s Club (weekends). Fixed term to 31st March 2025 with possible extension dependent on funding.
Reports to: Operational Manager
Responsible for: Support Workers
Salary: £29,744 per annum, pro rata for part-time hours
Hours: 15 hours per week Saturday and Sunday between the hours of 9am to 5pm, with 30 minutes unpaid lunch break.
Location: Thornliebank Resource Centre, Giffnock and other locations when required
Main purpose of post
Working as a key member of the Outreach Children’s Service this role will focus on the delivery of high quality group support, to support children and young people attending our Weekend Warriors club.
You will be responsible for the opening and closing of the building alongside an external security company, setting up of activities, delegating tasks and activities to a team of support workers and ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of children attending the club. You will manage any incidents, accidents, safeguarding or staff practice issues in line with Cosgrove’s policies and procedures.
You will liaise with families and carers updating them on the children’s engagement with the session and any health and wellbeing issues or concerns, and with statutory services if required.
Key Responsibilities
The Assistant Team Leader will:
1. Have a strong value led and person centred practice focus
2. Assist the support workers by leading, driving and empowering them to work together to meet individual outcomes in a group setting
3. Ensure safeguarding procedure is followed for any concerns observed, raised or suspected
4. Lead the staff team, ensuring that the needs of the people we support are being met to the highest standard whilst complying with the social care regulatory framework.
5. Work with support teams to co-ordinate and manage the rota –implementing changes as required
6. Contribute to developing the service over time.
7. Assist the Operational Manager with people management issues which may include annual leave, sickness absence, disciplinary and grievance matters, performance management, support and supervision.
8. Ensure safety checks are being carried out as scheduled in line with Health and Safety guidelines/policy.
9. Any other reasonable duties as may be required according to operational needs.
10. Support Security company in opening and closing the building, being responsible for the keys overnight.
11. Acting as the fire warden for the building, familiarising self with procedures, alarms and PEEP’s.
12. Plan, gather resources and implement activities that meet the needs of the children attending.
13. Set up the rooms, assign staff to activities and support people, ensuring the tidy up of the rooms.
14. Report any repairs and maintenance work to the correct person, keeping a record.
15. Carry out monitoring and evaluation tasks in line with funding requirements.
16. Assess children referred to the group through attendance at a taster session, following up with outcome to the Operational Manager.

Qualifications/Education:
Relevant qualification in line with requirements of SSSC Registration:

Commitment to achieve qualifications within the agreed timescale for registration purposes.
Experience and Knowledge
1. Proven track record of experience in a Social Care setting.
2. In depth knowledge of and ability to deliver high quality outcome focussed support to children and young people.
Abilities and Skills Required
1. Ability to build strong professional relationships with families and external partners
2. Ability to prioritise workload/work to deadlines
3. Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative in a creative and flexible way
4. Demonstrate good time management skills
5. Full current driving licence and willingness to drive own vehicle or company vehicles
