Support Officer / Supported Housing Assistant who has experience working in a customer facing / person centred role, with working knowledge of how to support people in achieving and maintaining independence, is required to join our team at A2Dominion.
SALARY: £25,148 - £26,472 per annum + Generous Benefits (see below)
LOCATION: Guildford, Surrey (GU1) – Fully Site Based
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
WORKING HOURS: 35 Hours per Week, Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm
PLEASE NOTE: A Full Driving Licence and your own vehicle is essential (mileage will be reimbursed at 45p per mile for business travel)
JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Support Officer / Supported Housing Assistant who has experience working in a customer facing / person centred role, with working knowledge of how to support people in achieving and maintaining independence.
Working as the Support Officer / Supported Housing Assistant you will deliver high quality person-centred support to customers living in a supported accommodation service.
As a Support Officer / Supported Housing Assistant you will work in accordance with Person Centred principles, enabling clients to sustain their tenancies by promoting independence, freedom and choice.
DUTIES
Your duties as a Support Officer / Supported Housing Assistant will include:
1. Assess referrals and engage with prospective clients using a person-centred approach. Key to this role will be liaising with health professionals, other agencies and colleagues as appropriate.
2. Ensure that prospective and current clients are fully aware of the support available, their financial obligations, rights and responsibilities under their tenancy/occupation arrangements and all related procedures.
3. Agree and review client Independent Living Plans and Risk Assessments on a regular basis.
4. Flexibly deliver the support identified in an Independent Living Plan through regular person-centred contact as appropriate, taking follow up action and coordinating wraparound support if required from other agencies.
5. Forge and maintain links with partner agencies and other key stakeholders as appropriate.
6. Report any concerns relating to safeguarding of vulnerable people using the correct procedures, attending case conferences and other meetings as required.
7. Ensure that all relevant documentation and records are completed and submitted in an accurate and timely manner.
8. Actively contribute to the collection of data to be used in statutory returns.
9. To empower clients to ensure the safety, security and cleanliness of the project, including adherence with internal policies and procedures and reporting repairs where necessary.
10. Handle complaints and representations in accordance with policy and undertake any necessary investigations.
11. Work outside of standard office hours, as required, to deliver services, following lone working procedures.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
1. Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Maths and English (Grades A*- C).
2. A working knowledge and understanding of how to support people in achieving and maintaining independence is essential.
3. Experience of providing support to diverse client groups.
4. Housing or Support related qualification.
5. Ability to work under own initiative.
6. Ability to network and build strong relationships with partner agencies, community and key stakeholders.
7. Organisational skills, including time management and ability to meet targets.
8. Ability to communicate effectively at different levels.
9. Ability to deal with distressed and aggressive clients.
10. Intermediate MS Office skills.
11. Full driving Licence and use of own transport is essential.
12. Experience of working with clients experiencing substance misuse and mental health is desirable.
