Vehicle Breakdown Recovery Manager
An opportunity has arisen for a Vehicle Recovery Manager to join our team. We are looking for someone with a friendly and positive “Can do” attitude to oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy vehicle recovery and breakdown department. You will be required to manage a team of drivers and admin staff, ensuring efficient vehicle recovery procedures are followed, and maintaining customer service standards while adhering to safety regulations.
Key responsibilities:
1. To manage the day-to-day transport operations ensuring operational requirements are met with a hands-on approach.
2. Responsibility for performance and review of operational procedures and risk assessments.
3. Maintaining and improving department performance levels to maximise efficiency in line with departments KPI's.
4. Plan, execute, review, and manage all training requirements for the breakdown and recovery Team.
5. Ensure all drivers are trained to work safely and carry out specified breakdown and recovery tasks.
6. Regularly conduct annual driver assessments including performance reviews, where necessary arrange additional training.
7. Manage all training requirements and ensure driver training register is maintained and reviewed annually with refresher training instigated where necessary.
8. Ensure all transport department vehicle equipment is maintained and checked regularly to minimise operational downtime.
Team Management:
1. Recruiting, hiring, and training new recovery drivers.
2. Supervising and evaluating driver performance.
3. Providing feedback by effective team management, achieving positive attitudes, coaching drivers on safety procedures and excellent customer service.
4. Addressing disciplinary issues as needed.
Operational Efficiency:
1. Handling customer inquiries and complaints regarding recovery services.
2. Ensuring timely communication with customers throughout the recovery process.
3. Resolving customer issues professionally and maintaining a positive customer experience.
Compliance and Safety:
1. Enforcing strict adherence to all relevant safety regulations, including loading and securing vehicles properly.
2. Investigating accidents and incidents to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Leadership Abilities: Strong leadership skills to manage and motivate a team of drivers.
2. Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to quickly assess situations and make effective decisions under pressure.
3. Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with dispatch software and GPS tracking systems.
4. Valid Driver's Licence, possessing a relevant driving licence with a clean driving record.
Desirable requirements:
1. HGV class 1 driving licence
2. CPC in Transport Management
3. Extensive background in the transport industry.
4. Flexibility and able to work hours as required.
