As an Autism Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in creating a supportive and inclusive environment for students with autism. You will assist with their academic, social, and emotional development, ensuring they receive tailored support to thrive in a classroom setting. Autism Support Worker Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one and group support to students with autism, helping them engage in learning activities. Implement personalised learning plans in collaboration with teachers and SENCOs. Support students in developing social and communication skills through structured interventions. Assist with classroom activities and adapt learning materials to meet individual needs. Help manage sensory and behavioural challenges using appropriate strategies. Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation. Work closely with families, teachers, and external professionals to support students' overall development. Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide regular feedback. Encourage independence, confidence, and self-esteem in students with autism. Requirements that we’re looking for in an Autism Support Worker: Experience working with children or young people with autism as an Autism Support Worker is highly desirable. A relevant qualification in education, psychology, childcare, or special educational needs is beneficial. A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting students with additional needs. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, staff, and parents. Understanding of autism and strategies to support sensory and behavioural needs.
