This post covers the East team and your base will be one of the local clinics Hertford, Waltham Cross or Hatfield. You will lead an integrated team of therapists and assistant practitioners together with a team lead partner, and work alongside other team lead colleagues, be supported by Operational leads and have access to HCT's leadership development opportunities.
You will be expected to use leadership skills to support a high functioning specialist team. You will have day-to-day operational responsibility for quality service delivery as well as the opportunity to take on service development projects.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will:
1. Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Speech and Language Therapy team, and provide support to a team of therapists and assistant practitioners ensuring an effective and high functioning team.
2. Ensure the policies and procedures of HCT are implemented and adhered to at all times and that team members are familiar with them.
3. Ensure that staff perform effectively and safely, taking appropriate action and escalating as necessary.
4. Contribute actively to the promotion of CYP Therapies as a profession.
5. Participate in the recruitment and retention of staff.
6. Work alongside operational colleagues to ensure adequate management cover at all times.
7. Lead on the continuous professional development of the workforce, supporting the Operational Lead with the development of services, performance capability, governance initiatives and the development of policy and practice.

As a Highly Specialist SLT you will have the opportunity to facilitate professional supervision groups and provide managerial supervision to less experienced colleagues.

1. Recognised Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy/ Speech & Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent (Post Graduate Diploma or MSc in Speech & Language Therapy leading to registration with HCPC).
2. HCPC Licence to Practice.
3. Registered member of relevant Professional Association.
4. Continued Professional Development evidenced by attendance at short specialist postgraduate courses to maintain and develop own specialist knowledge and expertise.
Experience and Knowledge

1. Experience of undertaking appraisal and planning CPD for less experienced staff.
2. Experience of professional supervision of staff.
3. Working knowledge of electronic patient record system.
4. Experience of working with different professional disciplines and agencies.
5. Experience of working within the SEND process.
