Description Shadingfield, Sotterley, Willingham and Ellough Joint Parish Council, Westhall IP19 8RG £12.21 - £13.50 per hour 30 hours per month (flexibility will be required) Permanent Reference: 0841 Your role This role will require attendance at monthly evening meetings for which you will need to prepare the Agenda and record minutes. The full council meets on the third Wednesday of every month with the exception of August and December, making a total of 10 meetings per year plus the Annual Parish meeting. Occasional, exceptional meetings may be called if circumstances demand it. Your responsibilities The Clerk provides administrative support to the council, closely supports the Chair in the running of meetings and advises the council on policy and legislation to enable effective decisions to be made. The Clerk has responsibility for administration of the burial ground at Sotterley and liaison with the separate trust which looks after the chapel. This is a small part of the role and few burials take place. Maintain and update records and documents as required. You will need: a flexible approach to working hours and time management to have excellent organisational and administration skills to be CiLCA qualified, or be prepared to work to gain this qualification, with support from the council to be proficient in use of IT including the Microsoft Office suite to be familiar with the use of social media channels, in particular WhatsApp which forms part of our communications approach be articulate in written and verbal communications and be able to work co-operatively with councillors and the public act on the council’s resolutions whilst also being able to work without direction, prioritising work and using your initiative alongside the scheme of delegation have experience in, and be able to demonstrate, sound financial management and budget setting looking to the short to mid-term. About us We serve four rural communities with an electorate of 365 and the Parish Council currently has a precept of £8,000. There are nine councillors plus one current vacancy. The council manages a playing field and owns Sotterley Chapel and burial ground. A laptop is provided with reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses.
