Randstad has been given the exclusive opportunity to recruit for a Depot & Workshop Supervisor for our clients located in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne. You would be joining a business that is Australia wide and well established, operating for 30+ years!
This business designs, manufactures and delivers high-quality equipment that is then supported by the Depot team.
This role will see you managing a team of 6-8 indisviduals, taking responsibility for all daily activities and all-round safety. You will be someone who is excited about leading people, happy to jump in and be hands on when needed whilst also switch to administration duties when required.
YOUR DAY TO DAY:
1. Reporting directly to the Depot Manager you will be managing a team of 6-8 including container repairers, forklift operators, depot hands etc
2. Assists the Depot Manager with safety meetings, toolbox and audits
3. Leadership and coaching (technical advice and assistance) of the workshop team
4. Be visible in the yard and workshop ensuring safe operations at all times
5. Equip, organise and staff the Depot at all times to meet the demand of the market place and those of specific clients in terms of operations, finance, administration and risk
6. Align the Depot business plan to ensure the delivery of quality services
7. Ensure the operational systems are established, functioning and maintained
8. Ensure that profit levels are maximised by efficient workshop performance and labour placement
9. Resolve problems associated with work health and safety and develop/assist with strategies to avoid or minimise problems.
10. Understand and follow workplace safety initiatives, identify hazards and contribute to a safe working environment, as well as follow procedures to manage and minimise risks within the workshop/depot.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
11. Previous experience as a supervisor or team leader in a manufacturing/depot environment (At least 3-5 years)
12. Experience focusing and actioning safety & safe work practices
13. Intermediate Computer Literacy Skills (including MS Office Suite)
14. Trade qualification (i.e. Boilermaker) is desirable
15. A current driver’s licence is required
16. Forklift licence is highly desirable
17. Confined space and working at heights (can be obtained post employment)
18. First Aid (can be obtained post employment)
