Day to day responsibility of Treasury execution and HQLA portfolio Management
Key Responsibilities
* The role is to assist the Group Treasurer and the Head of Liquidity and Funding in day to day management of Treasury activities, importantly the execution of all external transactions for the management of Liquidity, Funding, market risks management to include HQLA portfolio management and strategy.
* Own the Banks HQLA portfolio, to ensure performance in line with budget and to remain cognisant to market factors and react dynamically to a changing portfolio in the interest of managing risks versus returns.
* Act as primary point of contact for external Banks when engaging in the execution of transactions on behalf of Group/Bank.
* Adhere with the UK Money Market code at all times, ensuring compliance and understanding of all regulated instruments traded.
* Write-up and present all credit related papers associated with HQLA portfolio strategy.
* Develop initial and ongoing credit checks for bond purchases, pricing and booking including bond portfolio monitoring and review to meet regulatory and internal control requirements
* Managing and controlling the Banks Treasury management system and booking activities, working closely with middle and back offices.
* Provide cover and support within the ALM team as required to include daily ILAAP reporting, weekly operational ALCo MI and contribution to monthly reporting for TMF and ALCo providing insight and demonstration of value add.
* Take ownership of HQLA portfolio management and drive continuous improvement and optimisation of the HQLA strategy
* Identify risks and provide proposals for potential mitigations
* Accountable for the delivery of HQLA strategy, and supporting wider Treasury team in the day-to-day management and optimisation of cash management and interest rate risk management
* Manage and grow external relationships in line with balance sheet growth and complexity
What you bring to the team
* Understanding of trade and execution of regulated instruments, namely Money Market, FX, IRS, Bonds and Repo transactions.
* General understanding of the UK regulatory landscape, Capital and liquidity rules to include classification of HQLA for the purposes of LCR.
* An understanding of Treasury documentation to include ISDA, GMRA, CSA, and the understanding of operations and settlement of said instruments to include margining (initial and variation)
* Substantial experience working in in a UK Treasury front office environment within a UK Bank of Building Society
* Expected to establish strategic HQLA plan that requires a sound understanding of internal policy and external regulation for the purposes of maximising revenue within the constraint of stated risk appetite
* General understanding of ILAAP, ICAAP and RRP
* A good understanding of the macroeconomic environment.
* Knowledge of Bloomberg essential
* Highly numerate – Individual will require basic modelling skills for calculation purposes
* Commercial acumen – Excellent knowledge of the available universe of assets classified for use within LCR
* Able to work within tight deadlines i.e. cut off times by instrument/currencies
* Flexible approach to working and ability to switch from Front office execution to supporting reporting and ALM team(s) as required
* Analytical thinker who is able to interpret MI and use for sound decision making
