Pre-Construction Civil Engineer I&H Brown is a leading, family-led civil engineering and construction company, delivering high-profile projects across the UK. We are seeking a Pre-Construction Engineer to join our civils pre-construction team, contributing to the successful delivery of competitive tenders and helping to secure key contracts. Role Overview: As a Pre-Construction Engineer, you will play a critical role in the tendering process, ensuring comprehensive analysis of tender documentation, developing construction methodologies, and preparing technical submissions. You will collaborate with internal teams to assess risks, identify cost efficiencies, and enhance buildability, ultimately supporting the successful acquisition of new projects. Key Responsibilities: Analyse and interpret tender documents to ensure full understanding of project scope and requirements Develop project programmes and methodologies to support bid submissions Prepare technical documentation, including drawings, construction methodologies, and risk assessments Utilise CAD and Civils 3D to produce detailed visualisations and construction plans Assist in the preparation of bills of quantities for civil engineering works Provide technical responses for prequalification and tender documents Support the preparation and delivery of tender presentations and client interviews Attend and contribute to tender settlement meetings, site visits, and post-tender discussions Maintain compliance with Quality Assurance procedures and Health & Safety regulations Work closely with project teams to ensure a smooth transition from tender to project delivery What We Are Looking For: You will have a strong background in civil engineering, bid management, or preconstruction and be highly analytical, detail-oriented, and proficient in construction planning tools. Essential Skills & Experience: Degree/HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline Experience in bid coordination, tendering, or preconstruction within the civil engineering sector is preferred but not essential Proficiency in CAD, Civils 3D, and other visualisation software Strong technical writing and analytical skills Ability to assess risks, identify value engineering opportunities, and improve buildability at tender stage Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage with clients and stakeholders Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tenders and meet deadlines Why Join I&H Brown?
