Morelli Ice Cream Ltd is recruiting a Senior Production Supervisor Company Overview: From our production unit and head office in Coleraine, we supply our award-winning ice cream to branded stores and a growing list of independent and multiple retailers across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, and Great Britain, including Tesco Stores, Sainsburys and Dunnes Stores. Morellis first started making ice cream back in 1911 and we are extremely proud of our artisanal roots. Now managed by the fourth generation of the family, the company strives to manufacture an artisanal style product, using recipes that have been passed down through each generation, but on a semi-industrial scale. Position: Senior Production Supervisor Location: Head Office, Coleraine Duration: Full-Time, Permanent Role Overview: Do you have a background in food production? Would you like to work for a historic and growing household name in the ice cream industry whose products are stocked in supermarkets across the UK & Ireland? Then we might have the role for you. Due to a recent expansion in sales, this newly created position within the company has been established to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of our manufacturing department. The successful candidate must be passionate about producing great quality ice cream and must display a willingness to adopt an approach of continual improvement. This is very much a hands on role, you will oversee all aspects of our ice cream production and will report directly to our production/ quality manager and the company directors. You will manage the existing production team and will have the responsibility of assuring that they achieve set production targets, all produced to the highest possible standards. Key Responsibilities: Assist with & oversee the daily production of ice cream/ sorbet. Ensure that all products are manufactured to Morelli standards/ specifications. Maintain the highest standards of hygiene & food safety. Ensure good housekeeping and maintaining a clean/ tidy working environment. Manage/ Maintain our HACCP system & ensure accurate record-keeping. Manage our SALSA accreditation & other external audits. Assist with staff planning & rosters. Assist with managing costs/ production yields and ensuring the company meets various key financial targets. Supervise and train production operators, ensuring that company and external standards are maintained to the highest level. Assist with production planning to ensure adequate stock is produced to meet demand. Essential Criteria: A food related degree. At least three years relevant food manufacturing experience, preferably at supervisory level. Intermediate/ Advanced Food Hygiene qualification. Strong communication skills & the confidence to manage/ motivate a production team. A willingness to learn the methods/ science behind ice cream production. IT Literate with medium/strong Word & Excel skills. Good numeracy skills with the ability to make calculations & alter recipes. Desired Attributes: Dynamic, flexible, and proactive approach. Excellent organisational and communication skills. The salary range for the role will be £32,000 - £34,000, with opportunities to progress in the future.
