Job Description Resident Engineering Officer Faslane (REO) (Submarines) Full time Faslane - HM Naval Base Clyde The Resident Engineer is the senior Nuclear Steam Reactor Plant Technical Authority representative at the Faslane site and will lead the Faslane Site Office to support maintenance repair inspection and testing of the nuclear reactor plants. They have delegated Technical Authority from the PWR1/2 Chief Engineer and represent the MoD Naval Reactor Plant Authorisee (NRPA) to ensure activities do not compromise the design intent. Responsibilities You’ll lead the Site Office team to operate at the highest standards and deliver exceptional service, engaging them in our mission and developing them to be the best they can be and managing SQEP/qualification of Rolls-Royce Authorisation Group representatives. You’ll be responsible for oversight of NSRP activities on behalf of the NSRP Technical Authority and manage a significant audit and surveillance programme across the NRP to provide assurance to the Chief Engineers and NRPA that the plant has been maintained in accordance with design intent. You’ll lead the response to NSRP issues as they arise at site. You’ll develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders at the site to provide the key interface between Rolls-Royce and the stakeholders. The Resident Engineer is based at HM Naval Base Clyde, leading a highly skilled team of mechanical and electrical engineers, working directly alongside Royal navy and Babcock staff to deliver In Service Support to the Royal Navy Submarine Fleet which currently has Trafalgar, Vanguard and Astute Class Submarines. Looking to the future there is the entry into Service for Dreadnaught Class as well as the infrastructure projects such as EUSTON This role brings with it a wealth of engineering challenges and the opportunity to significantly develop engineering knowledge of components, systems, manufacturing techniques as well as operational methods. A high level of NSRP knowledge including plant, systems, components, safety justification and commissioning requirements. The following qualifications are required to be compliant with Nuclear Training Requirements Plan - Nuclear Warship Support Course (NWSC) and Dockyard Nuclear Systems Course (DNSC) or relevant RN equivalents. Experience of managing complex systems build and commissioning at the dockside. Former CAT A or CAT B Watchkeeper experience beneficial. Highly collaborative, using the strengths of a diverse team to deliver the programme objectives and able to build strong relationships across organisational boundaries and influence key stakeholders.
