Purpose of the role:
12 Month Fixed Term Contract - Maternity Cover
The role holder will provide commercial, technical, and financial expertise to support Canada Life in delivering Corporate Development priorities, including M&A strategy.
Responsibilities:
* Evaluating market developments, opportunities and strategic initiatives using financial and non-financial metrics and analysis;
* Articulating an estimated valuation for the UK division and developing robust financial rationales for how strategic decisions can impact valuation and shareholder returns;
* Presenting insights and recommendations tailored to varying stakeholder audiences;
* Collaborating across all levels of the organisation up to Executive team level;
* Ensuring the delivery of corporate development agenda, including end-to-end support/ownership on selective initiatives, projects or deliverables;
* Producing analysis, due diligence, insights and recommendations as required on behalf of the Corporate Development Team for the Executive team, including identifying potential market or value creation opportunities and assessing other strategic initiatives;
* Partnering with key business and functional executives, and other business heads to design and shape corporate development and the overall direction of the CLUK business;
* Researching markets, competitors, and macro events to support business and M&A strategy and understanding of market position;
* Understanding, keeping up to date and applying industry best practice, quality standards and innovative thinking, fostering knowledge sharing to provide solutions for the most complex and significant business or specialist issues or problems where no precedent may exist.
What you'll bring to the role:
* Significant experience in the Life Insurance, Wealth or Asset Management industries; recognised as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Corporate Development, Accounting, Reporting, or Regulatory Change;
* Strong commercial awareness and understanding, able to apply evaluation techniques and intuition to understand business/commercial implications of different courses of action;
* Expert analytical and financial assessment skills;
* Ability to navigate through complex settings to spot and resolve challenges and issues in analysis- and delivery-related tasks;
* Experience in supporting and delivering M&A transactions;
* Strong communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills, including written and verbal communication to bring clarity to complex topics;
* Robust planning and organisational skills;
* Excellent interpersonal skills - able to work and communicate effectively at all levels across the organisation.
