An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Families' Health and Wellbeing (FHWS) 0-19 Service delivering public health services to children and families across Staffordshire. We have a 30 hours a week permanent vacancy for a Band 5 Community Staff Nurse based in the Burton team. This is a development post whereby there may be an opportunity for future development/secondment to complete the SCPHN HV/SN course. The Burton FHWS 0-19 team were shortlisted for the Team award for Maximising Excellence at Work in 2024, which is a measure of how well the team works together to ensure the service model is delivered to a high standard.
The Families' Health and Wellbeing Service (0-19) in Staffordshire offers an integrated, flexible and family focused service providing high quality, compassionate, personalised support and care to Children and Young People. As a registered nurse, you will be part of a team delivering the 0-19 Healthy Child Programme for a varied, unique and diverse population, in a supportive skill mix team, working closely with our partner agencies across health, social care and the local authority. The successful applicant will need to work to the service specification and demonstrate the trust values at all times. You will be expected to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all aspects of child development, safeguarding and will carry out some aspects of the mandated contacts of the service model.
Main duties of the job
Training to achieve necessary competencies will be provided:
* Assessment of child growth - weigh & measure babies and young people.
* Competent in infant feeding & nutrition and starting solid food.
* Competent in assessment of child development.
* Assessment of maternal mental health and referral onwards.
* Knowledge and competence in safeguarding and child protection.
* Knowledge of enuresis and child continence/constipation.

Job Responsibilities
The post holder will:
* Demonstrate at all times the Values of Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
* Be willing to travel within the Burton and Uttoxeter areas.
* Be a Registered Nurse with the NMC in the UK and have a keen interest in working with children.
* Be responsible for a defined population of service users in a variety of settings across the Trust including the community.
* Be skilled in the assessment of care and support needs and in the development, implementation and evaluation of care and support packages.
* Have supervisory responsibilities as required (e.g. work allocation) and may have some responsibility for service developments.
* Deliver delegated aspects of the 0-19 Healthy Child Programme, ensuring key objectives and outcomes are met.
* Utilize electronic patient records, including Rio and in the future the E- Red Book, Patient Knows.
* Work between several health clinics in a local area as per needs of the service.
The post holder will be part of the 0-19 Families Health and Wellbeing Service providing public health advice, information, guidance, and referral and providing early intervention. In doing so, they will contribute to the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of programmes of health, ensuring that they practice within their sphere of competence and knowledge.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Level one Registration with NMC.
* Degree or diploma in nursing.
Training Required
* Evidence of/willingness to undertake post-registration training relevant to the post.
* Experience working with children/young people.
* Perinatal mental health, Safeguarding children levels 1, 2 & 3, Solihull Training, Child and adolescent emotional and mental health awareness/training, Obesity training ERIC training.
Work Experience
* Relevant experience/placements to the role including assessment, care planning, and management to support of children, young people, families and carers.
* Experience in working with children and young people in the community.
Knowledge
* Evidence of clinical knowledge relevant to the post.
* Understanding of Information Governance, Data Protection, NMC standards and safeguarding children.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Salary: £29,970 to £36,483 a year pro rata.
