About the Opportunity
Jacobs is recruiting for a Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Nuclear Power Engineering and Technical Services team supporting our key client EDF Energy Nuclear Generation with their nuclear fleet in the UK.
This is a key role within our Project Management Resource team which is spread across our UK network at all UK sites and stations. You will be supported and mentored by experienced project management professionals within Jacobs and given the training and opportunities you need to develop and expand your project management, business development, and leadership skills with larger and more complex projects.
The role involves working as part of a large client-led team at EDF's Torness Power Station, with occasional business travel to other UK sites/stations. Flexible working arrangements between office and home may be possible based on project commitments and deliverables.
Since 1988, Torness Power Station has generated over 282 TWh of electricity, enough power for every home in Scotland for 29 years. Working with the onsite quality team, you will help develop the overall quality strategy for outages and other maintenance periods as required. Your duties will include:
1. Supporting outage areas with identification of tasks and jobs requiring enhanced quality arrangements
2. Developing quality plans and arrangements with relevant maintenance, engineering, supply chain, and contract partners
3. Representing the strategic planning department at relevant quality forums and being the main outage point of contact for station quality staff and contract partner quality teams
4. Collaborating with station and contract partner teams to drive quality in all outage tasks
5. Setting up and running a team to carry out quality control surveillances during work execution
6. Reporting quality issues to department group heads, strategic planning managers, or through other forums as required
7. Working with outage coordinators on risk identification and mitigation during outages and maintenance periods
Here's What You'll Need:
* HNC in a Technical Discipline or equivalent
* Experience in quality maintenance activities in a QA/QC or technical role
* Recognized BE EN ISO9001 Internal Auditor Training completed
* Certification as IRCA Auditor/Lead Auditor
* Able to influence others to focus on quality alongside safety
* Proficiency in auditing and surveillance of client and contractor activities
* Awareness of Site Licence requirements on quality assurance and compliance arrangements
* Proficiency in Quality Management standards including BS EN ISO9001
* Experience with project risk management is advantageous
