£39,513 - £43,693 per year. An exciting new opportunity has arisen with Swansea Council who are seeking to appoint an individual who is enthusiastic about waste management. The role includes overseeing the Commercial Waste and Recycling Promotion teams. Swansea has one of the most efficient operations and highest recycling performance across Wales, and this role is key to maintaining and building on this success.
The Waste Management service provides in-house waste collections for over 110,000 domestic properties and a significant proportion of the area's businesses. The Service also manages five Recycling Centres and a transfer station which processes, bulks, and transfers all waste collected/received.
The existing service provision is one of the most efficient and highest performing in Wales, and this new role is critical to maintaining and building upon this foundation. The successful candidate will oversee and coordinate commercial waste customers and their collections, and will also be responsible for designing and implementing promotion schemes for domestic recycling collections.
Ideally, you will have substantial practical experience in stakeholder engagement and effective change management as the Service seeks to improve its efficiency and recycling performance while reducing its carbon footprint.
Key qualities for this position also include:

2. Good knowledge of Welsh Government's waste legislation and guidelines, and upcoming circular economy initiatives
3. Innovative thinking and a can-do attitude.
Reporting to the Group Leader Waste Management, and as part of the Waste Leadership Team covering Operations, Contract & Procurement, Recycling Promotion & Commercial Waste, Enforcement, and Finance & Business Support, the ability to work as part of a team is as important as also being able to work autonomously.
