The purpose of this role is to provide support to the Estates Manager with a wide range of maintenance, caretaking and landscaping based jobs. The role will involve working in a range of different areas of the school and dealing with problems that need solving, using initiative and best value solutions. There is a fair degree of physical work related to the manual nature of the tasks, particularly those involving landscaping. You will join a small team which looks after the school grounds and carries out preventative maintenance, working with Health and Safety principles in mind, to ensure our environment provides the most safe and effective place for pupils to learn in.
You should have already had similar experience in a similar role, meaning you’ll be accustomed to the techniques and procedures involved in doing intermediate level repairs, whether working with wood, metal or paint. You will be self-motivated and enjoy a fair amount of freedom, so you will be used to using your time well and efficiently, to carry out a range of tasks according to school need and priority. Working safely and carefully within a working school environment is critical and so you will show awareness of what this involves at interview. All our staff are part of our valued team and as such, are looked up to by our pupils, whatever their role in school. This role is a very important one, ensuring that our site reflects the high standards which we aim for.
