THE BUSINESS: An established company, based in Hull is looking for an Accounts Assistant to join the finance team, who will help and support the business. Employing circa 300 people and operating from multiple sites in the UK, the organisation has grown tremendously over the last 10 years and now the finance team comprises 16 staff and handles more than 15,000 transactions a month, with a value of more than c.£30m and growing, across multiple accounts. THE OPPORTUNITY: The primary purpose of this role is to perform key credit control functions for the 800 customers, ensuring the company receive their payments in a timely fashion and accurate recorded in the accounting systems. On top of this there will be several other key functions such as risk management, bank account reconciliations, invoice raising and setting up payments on banking portals. THE ROLE: Daily cash allocation of all funds received, ensuring accurate recording on two systems. Management of the company’s debt in respect to their admin & membership fees, amongst others. Creation of a weekly debt report for the senior management team Preparation & distribution of statements Handle both, phone and email queries from internal and external sources. These queries will include but are not limited to; - Payment enquiries - Remittance requests - Copy invoice provision To be responsible for client funds bank account month-end reconciliations. To ensure that the systems of internal control relating to this role are robust and operating effectively. This responsibility will extend to ensuring all processes are adequately recorded. Note: this work will be undertaken in conjunction with the rest of the Financial Management team. To assist the finance manager in escalation matters as a senior member of the finance team at Hull. To deal with, and escalate to the relevant departments, if necessary, queries from clients in relation to claims transactions. To liaise with other departments to; discuss issues, revise processes, etc., as and when required. Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including any potential review of banking facilities. To assist with any internal or external audit requirements. To undertake other ad hoc Finance duties as required from time to time. THE PERSON: To be the successful Credit Controller, you will have: A recognised UK professional accountancy qualification, or part qualified working towards one. A strong level of experience in credit control and cash allocation. Experience of performing account reconciliations. High standard of analytical skills. Possess a strong numerate & IT systems background. Excellent communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders. Robust planning and organisational skills. Good problem-solving skills. Strong decisioning making skills. Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel. The ability to work well within a team. WHATS ON OFFER: A competitive salary. FREE city parking near Hull Marina. Working hours are 8:00 to 17:00, Monday & Tuesday, and then 08:30 to 17:00 Wednesday to Friday, with one hour for lunch each day.
