We are currently looking for an Instrument Manager to work in our busy Sterile Services Department. The department provides an important service within the Hospital, decontaminating and sterilizing surgical instruments for the Operating Theatres/Wards, Departments and external customers. The department is fully accredited to European Standards and works within a Quality System. The department has various shifts, which cover the 24-hour day.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as part of a team supporting the management team. The Instrument Manager will ensure medical devices are maintained and are suitable for the SSD's decontamination cycle processes, and for use on patients.

This is a full time post working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with 7.5 hour shifts and a half hour meal break.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE Maths (C or above)
* GCSE English (C or above)
* GCSE Science (C or above)
* Working to or obtained NVQ3, City & Guilds or BTec National Diploma in Decontamination
* Management Qualification of Certificate level or above.
* Registered Perioperative practitioner or Chartered Member of the Institute of Decontamination Science
Experience
* Experience in the decontamination of reusable medical devices and flexible endoscopes.
* Basic Knowledge of the function of surgical instruments and medical equipment.
* Advanced IT skills and the ability to use databases and spreadsheets.
* Knowledge of capital procurement processes.
* Experience of business case construction and presentation.
* Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
* Experience of Track and Trace Systems.
Practical and Intellectual Skills
* Excellent verbal & written communication skills, including the ability to motivate, delegate, empathise and inspire.
* IT literate: able to formulate detailed Word & Excel reports & data.
* Ability to interpret and analyse complex information.
* Detailed knowledge of concept and working of Integrated Theatres.
* Understanding of budgetary control and Standing Financial Instructions.
* Understanding of existing Care Group priorities.
* Ability to understand essential requirements of complex items of medical equipment and to communicate these effectively to others.
* Mature outlook, based on experience of and project work.
* Ability to work under pressure to deadlines.
