Architectural Technologist for natural construction materials
Location
Home based, with occasional travel to the offices in the Borders or to trades events.
Job Purpose
Your purpose is to ensure products are specified and installed in the best way for optimising performance, safety and health - and to support the sales team to close sales projects.

Responsibilities include:
1. Providing technical sales support to both the sales team and directly with clients
2. Ensuring products are installed as specified in the company’s Install Guides
3. Keeping Installation Guides up to date for best practice and regulatory compliance
4. Providing drawings for Installation Guides and technical literature as required
5. Making sure installed products comply with building regulations
6. Ensuring products are installed for optimum performance and safety
7. Reducing any risks with installations - particularly condensation risks
8. Providing a good customer experience
9. On occasion supporting the team at events such as trade shows
10. Supporting the sales team to facilitate CPD sessions for architects and installers
11. Supporting the sales team to close sales projects by providing technical support
Person Specification
Key competencies:
1. Attention to detail
2. Ability to provide a positive client experience
3. A positive, can-do attitude - enjoys creative problem solving
4. Values taking care of the environment
Essential experience or qualifications:
1. Qualification as an Architectural Technologist or Technician
2. Minimum 5 years’ experience in the sector
3. Experience with natural bio-based fibre insulations
4. Excellent understanding of moisture and heat transfer movement in buildings
5. Trained in WUFI modelling - basic training minimum
6. Competent with U value calculations
7. AutoCAD, Revit and Sketchup
8. Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
9. Excellent technical drawing skills
10. Experience across a range of building types and clients
Preferred experience or qualifications:
1. Some hands-on construction experience
2. Thermal bridging risk analysis
3. Sales or customer service experience in the sector
4. Architectural rendering skills
Beneficial experience or qualifications:
1. Embodied carbon calculations (if not we can provide training)
2. Delivering CPD sessions to architects or builders
3. Chartered member of CIAT or ARB (or desire to achieve this)
