About this opportunity
This role sits within the Early Help and Targeted Youth Support service area, part of the Early Help and Learning sub-directorate in Children’s Services. The position focuses on achieving positive outcomes for young people by delivering early help and targeted support, with a specific emphasis on reducing the risk of anti-social or criminal behaviour. Key aspects of the role include:
1. Delivering targeted youth work programs – focusing on diversionary activities for young people at risk of entering the criminal justice system or re-offending, particularly those identified as First-Time Entrants or assessed as low risk.
2. Undertaking assessments and interventions – supporting young people suitable for the Youth Triage process by identifying and addressing their needs, as well as those of their families, through tailored interventions.
3. Facilitating restorative justice – supporting restorative justice interventions, community resolutions, and other Out of Court Disposals where appropriate to promote accountability and positive change.
4. Providing advice, guidance, and advocacy – including acting as an appropriate adult for young people detained in custody suites and offering advice and advocacy to support their needs.
5. Building capacity and identifying gaps – sharing expertise and knowledge with Children’s Services colleagues and professionals across agencies to strengthen service delivery and address gaps in provision.
