Job purpose : ■ To assist with a variety of tasks which will enable me to engage in positive physical activities and voluntary work opportunities, based on my interests. About the employer: ■ I am a young adult aged 20. ■ I have recently finished college, where I enjoyed a non-qualification course in animal care. At home I keep chickens and assist in gardening. I am interested in conservation, farming, gardening, walking, horse riding, quad biking and animals. I want to do some regular voluntary work. ■ I need support as I have a complex learning disability and a speech difficulty. I can be anxious in some situations and need support in some situations to manage my heightened emotions. ■ I live with my mum and dad who support me in employing my support workers, and the support is funded through Liverpool Local Authority Adult Services. Main duties: ■ Build a positive, trusting relationship with me and keep me safe whilst supporting me. ■ Support and work alongside me in a range of activities outside of his home such as: - voluntary work opportunities in Liverpool and surrounding areas. This may include for example volunteer gardening, litter picking, farming tasks, conservation tasks, animal care. This may include travelling with me to the venue for the voluntary work. - attend alongside me adult education classes in practical subjects of interest to me as and when courses are available (e.g. gardening, craft) - participate with me in undertaking physical exercise such as walking, horse riding and attending ‘wheels for all’ cycling sessions. ■ Support and work alongside me in a range of activities at home such as: - assist me to tend to my chickens. - undertake gardening and outdoor jobs (e.g. vegetable growing in greenhouse and vegetable patch, weeding and cutting the grass.) - work with me at home to upcycle small pieces of furniture. - support me at home to prepare lunch. These duties may vary from day to day. Hours of work: Flexible hours to be mutually agreed – minimum of 6 hours, maximum of 30 hours per week. Days of work would need to be regular but at present are flexible. Type of person that we are looking for: ■ Calm, hardworking, reliable, honest, adaptable, good communicator. ■ Willing and able to travel. ■ Interested in or experienced in outdoor activities such as gardening, animals, farming, conservation work.
