I am currently working on numerous full time vacancies for a client who manages several resource provisions across Wakefield.
Experience or qualifications in BSL, Makaton or other communication techniques would be advantageous but are not essential.
Please see below an overview of the roles I am currently recruiting for:
* A small specialist school looking for staff to work with learners who have SEMH, communication and interaction needs. The aim of TA's in this setting is to help transition children into a mainstream environment.
* Supporting children and young people aged 5-11 years. These children are mainly autistic but some may have profound speech and language difficulties.
* Supporting children and young people aged 5-11 years. TA's are required to help integrate SEMH children into a mainstream setting. Frustration through speech and language difficulties means children are likely to display challenging behaviour. Specialist skills in BSL, Makaton or other communication techniques would be advantageous. Several roles available.
* To work with children and young people aged 11-16 years who have some communication and interaction needs. The prime needs within this provision are that these children are mainly autistic. Strong behaviour management skills are required and BSL, Makaton or other communication techniques are advantageous. Several roles available.
* Working in a small provision supporting children and young people aged 12-16 years. These children have severe and profound visual impairments.
Although the specific responsibilities will vary depending on the role applied for, the ideal Teaching Assistant will be expected to:
* Provide learning support to enhance cognition and make learning more accessible through stretching and scaffolding techniques.
* Experience working with complex learning needs such as autism, SLD, sensory impairments and SEMH, including challenges related to attachment difficulties.
* Offer individualised support to improve speech and language, particularly to those where English is an additional language.
* Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to create a holistic and engaging learning experience for all learners.
* Contribute to a school culture that is committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of every student.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills:
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* A genuine passion for working with children and a commitment to creating a positive and nurturing learning environment.
* A strong understanding of SEND and experience working with students who had VI or HI learning difficulties.
* A TeamTeach qualification (or willingness to attend free training with us).
* Proficient in BSL, Makaton or other communication techniques.
