Warwick District Council is seeking a dynamic and driven Housing Development Officer to support the delivery of new housing developments and help us make a lasting impact in our communities. As a Development Officer, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering new housing projects, working collaboratively with our partners to ensure schemes are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. You will contribute to the growth of our housing portfolio and ensure that our developments meet the needs of our tenants and stakeholders. As a Development Officer you will play a crucial role in aligning our housing projects with the zero-carbon agenda, ensuring that sustainability is at the heart of everything we deliver. Key Responsibilities: Supporting the delivery of new build and regeneration projects from inception to completion. Assist the Senior Housing Development Officer to identify and facilitate new build housing Projects Commission and evaluate feasibility studies and carry out viability assessments for new housing development schemes, using initiative and creativity during the project planning process in advance of commencing a procurement process. Assisting in the management of development contracts, budgets, and project timelines. Liaising with architects and contractors to ensure compliance with all statutory regulation Monitoring the quality of construction and ensuring developments meet agreed specifications and sustainability standards. Preparing reports and updates for senior management and board meetings. Building strong relationships with stakeholders, including local authorities, funding bodies, and community groups. About You To succeed in this role, you’ll need a combination of technical knowledge, project management skills, and a passion for affordable housing. We’re looking for someone who has: Minimum one year experience working within the construction industry and/or experience of the affordable housing development process. Experience of dealing with development and/or regeneration schemes. Experience of managing capital budgets effectively in a financially constrained environment. Up to date knowledge and understanding of local, regional and national housing policy, planning and development issues. Comprehensive knowledge of the planning system, new build development process, building regulations and other relevant legislation. Ability to liaise and work alongside Senior Officers, Councillors, Partners, joint venture clients and Stakeholders. Ability to coordinate funding bids to help deliver the housing development programme. Excellent time management and organisational skills to effectively manage a varied workload. Excellent written and verbal skills, including the ability to produce written documents and presentations to a high standard to a range of audiences Ability to work effectively without close supervision and to meet tight deadlines Sensitivity to political considerations The intention is for the postholder to work from home. However, office and hybrid working is also available. Whilst home working is offered for this role, it is a requirement that the successful candidate be available to attend meetings at our offices and sites within Warwick District when required. Any costs for travel from home to the office will be met by the successful candidate. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service and may, from time to time, be expected to work unsociable hours, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays. A current valid full UK driving license with access to a vehicle is required for this role.
