Job summary
The vacant post is for a Band 6 Specialist Podiatrist based mainly in community but also working as a core member of the hospital based Diabetes Podiatry Service .The service would also consider applications from New Graduate or Band 5 Podiatrists with an interest in the Acute Diabetic Foot as a Band 5 development post progressing to Band 6
Main duties of the job
TheSpecialist Podiatrist role will include the assessment of new patients againstan agreed eligibility matrix and then the planning of future podiatric care forpatients eligible for on-going NHS treatment or the discharge from the servicefor those who do meet the criteria.
Theclinician will provide a range podiatry treatment, including wound care fordiabetic and non-diabetic ulceration, across the Rotherham area covering RotherhamHospital, Community Health Centre site, community clinics, and domiciliaryvisits for housebound patients.

The DiabetesPodiatry Service duties include the management of Active Diabetic Foot problems,rotation on the MDT Diabetic Foot Clinic, and a limited amount of in-patientcare.
The Band 6duties include delivering education training sessions to other professionalstaff and patient groups when required, and communication with other servicessuch as: Community Nurse Teams, GP, and also Accident and Emergency/ SDEC whenpatients need to be admitted.
