We are looking for a new member of staff to join our R&D team.
UK National External Quality Assessment Service (NEQAS) is an impartial, independent, and self-financing expert centre for the provision of external quality assessment (EQA) for all aspects of Haematology and Blood Transfusion laboratory testing.
UK NEQAS Haematology and Blood Transfusion deliver a diverse and extensive programme of EQA services and advice to over 1400 participating laboratories in the UK and worldwide.
The Haematology and Blood Transfusion services are operated by West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, and the unit is based in a bespoke unit designed and built specifically for our use in the Croxley Business Park in Watford.
The unit consists of approximately 30 people, which includes 12 Haematology staff, 6 Blood Transfusion staff, and the remainder who work in the joint Receipt & Dispatch (R&D), Administration, and IT teams.
The working hours for the post are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 09:00 am to 17:30 pm.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will carry out office and laboratory work, ranging from data entry to assisting with the preparation, organisation and packing of EQA material for distribution.
The post holder will assist in resolving issues with deliveries whilst liaising with members of staff within UK NEQAS, the postal and courier services.

Job responsibilities
The main tasks and overview of responsibilities include:
* Preparation of paperwork to accompany the survey material prepared for distribution to the participating medical laboratories and testing sites.
* Working with a variety of blood products to assist in the preparation of survey material.
* Assisting with the receipt and dispatch of goods and survey material.
* Monitors stocks of laboratory reagents and consumables.
* Contributes to the investigation of quality incidents, suggesting appropriate changes to practice.
* Upholds UK NEQAS Code of Practice.
Person Specification
Education and qualifications:
* Level 2 qualification (GCSE or equivalent).
* Level 3 qualification (A levels or equivalent).
Knowledge:
* Knowledge of the role of EQA as part of quality assurance.
* An understanding of the need for confidentiality awareness at all times.
* Basic knowledge of laboratory haematology and/or Blood Transfusion.
Experience:
* Sorting/packing and shipping goods.
* Data entry or keyboard experience.
* Experience in EQA software use.
* Working in a healthcare setting, haematology, Blood Transfusion laboratory, or pathology reception setting.
