Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Create and generate reports using excel spreadsheets and databases to communicate financial information to managers on a regular basis.
* Obtain timely interpretations of budget variances to agree appropriate action with managers to avoid further overspends, and develop recovery plans if necessary.
* Establish and maintain regular communication with managers to facilitate financial input to decision-making processes and gain a better understanding of operational activities.
* Deliver a programme of financial training for managers to ensure a high level of financial management skills. Assist in raising awareness within the Trust of the financial regime of both the NHS and the Trust.
* Deputise for the Senior Head of Group Finance, Head of Group Finance, or Deputy Head of Group Finance as appropriate.
* Support the Senior Head of Group Finance and Head of Group Finance in providing support to the Corporate Planning team with relevant financial information and monitoring performance to support commissioning.
* Obtain and evaluate financial information for input to business cases, and complete financial aspects of Capital Bid forms on behalf of the Group / Speciality / Department.
* Maintain professional knowledge to ensure financial advice is given with the latest information from NHS/Trust or professional bodies.
* Co-ordinate the work of the Finance Assistants where appropriate.
* Maintain effective working relationships with other individuals of the finance function, other officers of the Trust, and members of the public, ensuring that work is carried out efficiently and to a high standard, focused on achieving customer satisfaction.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
