JOB DESCRIPTION
To assist the Production Manager in the safe and efficient operation of the Le Maitre site at Peterborough in the pursuit of Pyrotechnic production in line with all legislative and company safety policies and guidelines.
The shift operates from Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 16:00 and on Friday 08:00 to 15:00. One 15-minute paid break takes place at 10:00 each day and an unpaid lunch break from 12:30 to 13:00 each day.
Responsibilities:
* Read, and accurately follow written working instructions as well as other instructions both written and verbal, to complete assembly of components according to established guidelines and quality standards.
* Use a variety of hand tools following established methods to complete assembly of components.
* After an induction period, be able to assemble at a reasonable rate as decided by the factory average timings.
* Make use of the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided to satisfactorily protect against fumes, glue, etc. and to ensure good health & safety practices.
* Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area and maintain all equipment according to maintenance plans and established procedures.
* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
* Be able to add, subtract, multiply, divide and use percentages.
* Must be willing to learn new techniques as well as be able to deal with repetitive tasks.
* Employees frequently need to sit, stand and reach within arm’s length.
* Adequate dexterity to manipulate a variety of precision tools in line with safety policy.
* Be able to react quickly and appropriately to audible and visual warnings.
OTHER:
From time to time you may be asked to assist on other tasks, e.g. cleaning magazines, stock taking, mixing flash powder for other production staff, etc., which are essential to the operation of the factory.
Who we're looking for:
* 1-2 years related experience / training, or combination (desired).
* Worked previously in manufacturing or engineering environment, or with hazardous chemicals is desirable.
* Ability to read and comprehend procedures written in English.
* Good written and oral communication skills.
* Experience within a manufacturing role (desired).
