The Opportunity: An opportunity is available within our Global Engine Development Build team (GED) at the Peterborough Engine Facility. GED is instrumental in the development, validation, and certification of our new products and in providing support to current products. The Build Engineer (Laboratory/Support Engineer) is a key role in the GED-UK Operations team. They are the single point of contact for all engineering platforms who have activities that require Build Shop support. The Build Engineer collaborates with engineering, translates engineering requirements into a single safe source for it to be actioned by technicians. They advise both technicians and engineers on best practices for build related activities. In support of this they attend engineering project & planning meetings to ensure that all build shop valuestream inputs are considered and customer expectations of the build shop velocity, quality and resourcing needs are understood. The build engineer is responsible for ensuring that the resources available to the technicians are current and correct, aligned with the Quality Management System, for example the measurement workbooks.? What You Will Do: · Adhere to the Caterpillar's health and safety policy and safe working practices in accordance with the Safety Management System. · Adhere to Caterpillar's Values in Action: Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, Commitment & Sustainability. · Communicate effectively with engineers responsible for engine test programs and all operational teams. · Translate engineering requirements into the operational tasks required to enable quality test data capture; facilitating engine receipt or build, · Identify and resolve engine or process issues that may arise during the planning and preparation of engine build, Using Lean methodology Update Standard work and risk assessments as required. · Follow documented standard work procedures/instructions to ensure safe and defect free work. · Take accountability for professional development and continued learning. What you have: Technical Support: - Provide technical support to engineers and technicians. - Identify product and process issues.
