Working as the Communications and Engagement Manager for the NHS South West Collaborative Commissioning Hub, you will be responsible for day-to-day work on directly commissioned services with a lead role in Vaccinations and Screening communications and supporting the Senior Communications and Engagement Manager with communications on other directly commissioned services including Specialised Commissioning, Health and Justice and delegated Pharmacy, Optometry and Dental commissioning. You will play a pivotal role as part of a small energetic team, working closely with the NHS England South West Regional Communications and Engagement team in supporting local healthcare systems and partners. Working across the South West you will deliver media activity on Vaccinations and Screening campaigns as well as linking into the regional communications team. This role is about finding and delivering meaningful proactive stories about the great commissioning work going on regionally and reactively supporting colleagues as they manage a wide array of stakeholders, challenges and opportunities through emerging stories and issues. Whilst first-hand knowledge of the NHS is an advantage, the most essential requirements are impeccable news judgement, creative digital skills, strong writing and people skills, some internal communications experience and experience in managing media and social media. Within this role you will also support and complement the work of colleagues within the NHS South West Collaborative Commissioning Hub in the management of internal communications and campaign work for Vaccinations and Screening including social media and media work. We work with a wide range of stakeholders and you will be able to demonstrable the ability to build trust with, and influence, senior internal and external stakeholders where appropriate. Reporting to the Senior Communications and Engagement Manager within the NHS South West Collaborative Commissioning Hub (NHS SW CCH), the Communications and Engagement Manager post holder will be part of the NHS England South West regional team and NHS SW CCH delivering high quality communications and engagement services for Directly Commissioning services in the South West. The post holder will join NHS England South West regional communications and engagement team meetings and be professionally aligned to this team. As a Communications and Engagement Manager, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the South West. The post holder will support the Senior Communications and Engagement Manager to ensure that the NHS South West Collaborative Commissioning Hub work stream of programmes are planned and managed effectively and take a lead in assisting in their successful delivery. You will take a lead in internal communications for the NHS South West Collaborative Commissioning Hub and are a real self-starter in organising engaging internal communications. You will also lead a regional campaign network on Vaccinations and Screening, for example around Covid and Flu Vaccination campaigns. Your work will support the Commissioning teams in delivering their operational plans and in tandem support the Regional Communications and Engagement Team in delivering their regional priorities.
