Due to our tremendous success to date, we’re recruiting for an Underwriter to be based in Manchester to support the expansion of our regional offering. Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Development of the Allied World portfolio exploring opportunities with our existing partners and establishing new relationships.
2. Perform account analysis according to underwriting guidelines to include thorough review of underwriting application/submission, consideration of risk management protocols, research via online services and other available resources and liaising with other Company departments to establish full understanding of risk exposures.
3. Perform referrals (as required) with the relevant AW contact.
4. Responsible for timely and correct issuance of bound policies.
5. Working closely with the wider Commercial Division and contribute to the formation of overall strategy/business plans and the execution thereof.
6. Authorizing of quotes, binders and invoices in accordance with company guidelines.
7. Accountable for the maintenance of underwriting files in an orderly manner and in accordance with the underwriting guidelines.
8. Marketing — attend client/broker meetings, lunches, dinners and other social outings as applicable. Meet with key brokers regularly to discuss production, service and other topics relative to division operation.
9. Attend industry conferences and seminars as appropriate.
Qualifications
Person Specification:
1. Required 5+ years demonstrable experience underwriting Real Estate business.
2. Must be articulate, with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills – required for daily liaison with clients and brokers including delivering effective presentations and building strong working relationships.
3. Highly computer literate within MS Office applications and an advanced level proficiency using underwriting systems.
4. Methodical approach to work, strong organization skills; capable of dealing with tight reporting deadlines and conflicting priorities.
5. Overall team player with collaborative outlook.
