Are you a passionate and dynamic history educator ready to lead a thriving department and inspire the next generation of historians? Risedale School's successful Humanities Faculty is seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as Head of Department: History.
About the Role:
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and driven individual to lead and develop the History curriculum, fostering a love of learning and achieving strong academic outcomes. You will be responsible for:
• Implementing a stimulating, engaging and well-sequenced curriculum: ensuring consistency and excellence in teaching and learning across the department.
• Leading and managing colleagues: providing strategic direction, support, inspiration and guidance to the team.
• Delivering inspiring and engaging history lessons: utilising innovative teaching methods to captivate and challenge pupils and modelling great practice to colleagues.
• Raising pupil attainment: implementing strategies to improve academic performance and ensure all pupils reach their full potential.
• Fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment: creating a space where pupils feel valued and motivated.
• Contributing to the wider Humanities Faculty: collaborating with colleagues to enhance the overall learning experience.
About You:
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic history specialist who:
• Possesses a strong track record of successful teaching.
• Demonstrates a deep understanding of history curriculum and assessment requirements.
• Is passionate about inspiring pupils and fostering a love of learning.
• May have leadership experience or at least an understanding of strong curriculum leadership.
• Is innovative, creative, and open to new ideas.
• Is resilient, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement.
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• May have experience teaching the Pearson specification at KS4.
