Do you want to work in the Army�s Royal School of Artillery (RSA) and play a key role in developing future publications?
The RSA is the Royal Artillery Centre of Excellence and plays a key role in the development of Royal Artillery procedures. These are managed by the Command and Tactics Wing within the School. This role plays a fundamental part in the production process, working closely with serving personnel to collate and format publications that set the standard for Royal Artillery Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures.
Working across all disciplines from Remotely Piloted Aerial Systems to 155mm Artillery, the role is highly versatile. It allows flexibility in the workplace and independence if required.
This role works independently alongside military personnel in the Command and Tactics Wing of the Royal School of Artillery.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
The role is responsible for providing an editorial development service for the production and maintenance of Royal Artillery publications and other supporting documents in line with the Royal Artillery Doctrine Publications Working Group. This role is fundamental to the development of Royal Artillery Manuals across all disciplines. The main focus of the Publications Editor role is supporting the production and updating of Royal Artillery Manuals.
The post works alongside members of the Tactics and Doctrine Branch of the RSA. When changes or updates to publications are requested the post of Publications Editor is responsible for implementing these changes in the publications, and once approved, publishing the new version of the publication.
The Publications Office is responsible for:
1. Formatting and finalising of new Royal Artillery Manuals
2. Carrying out minor amendments of extant publications
3. Maintaining records of current amendments
4. Control Army Codes for Royal Artillery Publications
Person specification
The successful applicant will need a keen eye for detail and have experience of working with the Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Publisher. As a singleton role within a small team the incumbent will also need to be able to work under their own initiative whilst working towards common goals.
