Lead Quality Engineer / Quality Supervisor

Syntech Recruitment is partnering with our client, a leading precision engineering company, to find an experienced and ambitious Quality Engineer ready to take the next step in their career. This is an excellent opportunity to transition from a hands-on quality inspection role into a leadership position, where you will oversee quality assurance, manage inspections, and drive process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the inspection team, overseeing incoming, in-process, and final inspections to ensure components meet required specifications.
Conduct detailed inspections using precision measuring equipment such as CMMs, borescopes, calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
Maintain and manage calibration schedules for all measuring equipment and coordinate external calibration services.
Ensure material and component traceability is maintained using the company’s ERP system.
Investigate quality issues and non-conformances, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
Work closely with engineering and production teams to address quality concerns and improve manufacturing processes.
Assist in maintaining and improving the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, and ISO 13485.
Support and prepare for customer, supplier, and accreditation audits.
Conduct and oversee First Article Inspections (FAI) and ensure all documentation is accurately maintained.
Train and mentor quality inspectors and production staff on quality control procedures and best practices.
Monitor scrap and rework rates, producing reports and assisting in process improvements.
Oversee final product release, ensuring compliance with regulatory and customer standards.
Assist with supplier quality management, including supplier audits and performance reviews.
Support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
Prepare inspection reports, quality documentation, and performance metrics for senior management.
Requirements:
Previous experience as a Lead Quality Inspector, Quality Supervisor, or Senior Quality Technician within precision engineering, aerospace, or medical device manufacturing.
Strong hands-on experience with CMM operation and programming, as well as manual measuring tools.
Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, and ISO 13485 quality standards.
Ability to interpret and inspect technical drawings and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
Experience leading quality teams or mentoring junior inspectors.
Strong problem-solving skills with experience in root cause analysis and corrective actions (CAPA).
Effective communication and leadership skills, capable of working with cross-functional teams.
High attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
Proficiency in ERP systems for traceability and quality tracking is an advantage.
