The warehouse operative plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our warehouse facility. This position involves working as part of a team to assemble, inspect, and package mattresses on the production line as well as storing and distributing goods within the warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Receiving and Inspection:
· Receive incoming shipments of goods and materials.
· Inspect deliveries for accuracy and completeness.
· Verify quantities and quality of received items against packing slips or purchase orders.
2. Storage and Inventory Management:
· Properly store received items in designated warehouse locations.
· Maintain accurate inventory records.
· Conduct regular inventory counts to reconcile stock levels and identify discrepancies.
3. Assembly and Manufacturing:
· Operate machinery and equipment to assemble mattress components according to production specifications.
· Follow standardized procedures and quality control measures to ensure consistency and accuracy in mattress construction.
· Monitor production line for any issues or defects and take corrective action as needed.
4. Quality Inspection:
· Inspect finished mattresses for quality and consistency, checking for defects such as stitching errors, loose materials, or structural issues.
· Conduct visual and tactile inspections to ensure that mattresses meet company standards for appearance, comfort, and durability.
· Identify and segregate any defective products for repair or rework, following established procedures.
5. Packaging and Shipping:
· Package finished mattresses securely for shipping, using appropriate materials and techniques to prevent damage during transit.
· Label packages accurately with product information, size, and other relevant details.
· Prepare shipping documentation and assist with loading mattresses onto delivery vehicles as needed.
6. Safety and Compliance:
· Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
· Follow proper lifting techniques and ergonomic practices to minimize the risk of injury.
7. Packing:
· Fulfill customer orders by accurately picking items from warehouse shelves or storage areas.
· Pack orders securely to prevent damage during transportation.
· Prepare shipments for outgoing delivery, ensuring correct labeling and documentation.
8. Loading and Unloading:
· Load and unload trucks or containers using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment.
· Safely handle and stack goods to optimize storage space and minimize risk of damage.
· Adhere to safety protocols and procedures while operating equipment and handling heavy loads.
9. Housekeeping and Maintenance:
· Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse facility.
· Ensure aisles, storage areas, and workspaces are clear of obstructions.
· Report any maintenance or safety issues to management for prompt resolution.
10. Teamwork and Collaboration:
· Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to achieve team goals and targets.
· Communicate effectively with other departments to coordinate workflow and resolve issues.
· Support a positive work environment by contributing to a culture of teamwork and mutual respect.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment preferred but not required.
* Ability to lift and move heavy objects safely and efficiently.
* Proficiency in using warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks (training provided if necessary).
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing tasks such as inventory counts and order picking.
* Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Working Conditions:
* The position involves working in a warehouse environment, which may include exposure to varying temperatures, dust, and noise.
* Some tasks require physical exertion and the ability to lift heavy objects.
* Overtime may be required to accommodate peak periods or special projects.
Working Hours: Mon - Thurs, 6.30am to 4.30pm (4pm on Thurs)

Pay: From £11.44 per hour
