Chief People Officer
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Chief People Officer will be a core member of the Extended Executive Group (EEG), who provide advice to the Executive Committee (ExCo). The primary purpose of the position will be to design and deliver Wellcome’s People framework to support Wellcome’s mission, and to lead on embedding Wellcome’s culture, values and behaviours across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Ensure that Wellcome attracts, retains, develops and drives performance in the talented people who we need to deliver our mission.
2. Ensure that Wellcome’s organisational culture is optimised for delivering the mission, including improving engagement with and connection to the mission.
3. Create a high-performing organisation; deliver leadership development initiatives and develop metrics that enable both fact-based decisions on strategic people matters and indicate the effectiveness of operational teams.
4. Lead on change and transformation projects from a people perspective, harnessing the power of technology and AI to shape and enhance colleague experience and the way people work at Wellcome.
5. Act as a sounding-board, coach and confidante on people matters for the ExCo and EEG.
6. Work closely with the Executive Director Equity and EDI team to implement agreed EDI strategies across the whole organisation.
7. Participate in, influence and inform Boards, committees, internal and external stakeholders as required.
8. Ensure that processes are efficient, flexible and fit for purpose, while ensuring appropriate governance so that the People function’s activities are managed in line with Wellcome's compliance policies and risk appetite.
9. Maintain effective operational support teams (People Ops, Health and Safety), with a drive and passion for customer service.

At Wellcome we have a hybrid way of working which is 3 days in our Euston Road offices (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) with the remaining 2 days working either remotely or in the office.
