Reporting into the Brenntag Bristol Site Manager, the Transport Manager oversees the day-to-day management of the site fleet, the drivers and the routing planner for compliance, planning and efficiency. Brenntag Bristol has ten curtain side rigids and two artics, covering Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Bristol, Wiltshire, Southern Gloucestershire, Western Hampshire (inc IoW) and Western Berks. The Transport Manager will have ownership and responsibility for all operational and safety functions in the Bristol Depot Transport Dept. The role will be predominantly managerial, with the occasional need for a hands-on approach to completing tasks to cover periods of sickness/absence. Working with the other site departments, the individual will be responsible for the transport contribution to providing a market-leading customer experience to the depot’s customer base. As the Transport Manager, your responsibilities will be: Management of the drivers and route planner to help deliver: Site and company OTIF expectations and requirements Site and company Own Fleet Utilisation expectations and requirements. Minimisation of third-party haulage usage. Lead incident response for transport-related issues, in conjunction with site manager. Lead department safety huddles/excellence meetings, and champion health and safety through the Transport Dept. Assist in the adherence of all requisite audits, internal and external. Transport adherence to requirements laid out in all site auditable accreditations (BRC, ISO, FEMAS, etc.). Help in facilitating near miss investigations and corrective actions for sign off, where appropriate. New starter inductions/introductions. Compliance duties as you will have continuous and effective responsibility for the management of the transport operations covering 12 vehicles and 2 trailers on the margin Skills and qualifications required Experience of the chemicals industry preferable. Experience of distribution industry critical. CPC Certificate. ADR awareness preferred, not essential. Excellent attention to detail, data entry experience and a good all-round level of IT/PC literacy. A diligent and highly organised approach, coupled with plenty of initiative Excellent communication skills to converse with drivers, senior managers and suppliers.
