We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Mechanical Engineer - Innovation with a robust background in Mechanical Engineering and a deep understanding of systems and product engineering to join our dynamic team.
Location: Dundee
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 (depending on skills/experience) + Attractive bonus + benefits
As an integral part of our innovation Lab team, the ideal candidate will drive innovation and develop cutting-edge solutions that enhance our product offerings and improve overall efficiency. This role offers a unique opportunity for growth and learning in a dynamic and innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Innovative Design: Develop & implement innovative engineering solutions from sketch to concept build.
* Systems Engineering: Apply systems engineering principles to design, integrate and manage complex systems over their lifetime.
* Product Development: Lead and participate in the product development process from ideas and concepts to Proof of Concept activities, ensuring designs meet performance and reliability targets.
* Prototyping & Proof of Concept: Create and test prototypes to validate new thinking, concepts and designs.
* Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Marketing Product management, other engineering teams (both software and hardware) and manufacturing, ensuring the successful realization of next-generation product vision.
* Research: Stay updated with the latest consumer and industry trends, technologies and best practices to drive improvements and innovation in your solutions and offerings.
* Problem-Solving: Utilize design thinking methodologies to identify and resolve ATM/self-service industry challenges.
* Documentation: Prepare detailed documentation to support the development and conceptualization of new ideas and projects.
* Sustainability: Apply principles of sustainability to develop eco-friendly products and solutions.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
* Education: A Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
* Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Product Design and Development.
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. Creo or SolidWorks Preferred), FEA tools and other engineering software, high-level understanding of part design, particularly sheet metal parts, plastic mouldings, and mechanisms, as well as a good knowledge of tooling and parts manufacture.
* Knowledge: Strong understanding of next-generation Mechanical systems, materials and Manufacturing Processes.
* Innovation: Proven track record of developing innovative products and solutions.
* Communication: Excellent verbal & written communication skills and ability to present to C-level customers.
* Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams internally and externally.
* Problem-solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a creative and out-of-the-box approach.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with project management and leading engineering teams.
* Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
* Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
* Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
