Garment Technologist - Outerwear & Bottoms
Salary £30k to £45k DOE Location Peterborough Head Office Contracted Hours 37.5 hours a week - Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm - Office Based

The Vacancy
What is the role
To implement the technical strategy for the YOURS range of product for Outerwear, Tailored jackets & Bottoms (across both woven and jersey) working with the technical and buying team to produce product consistent to the companies desired fit and quality requirements. To assist in the development of the supplier/factory base assuring quality, minimising returns and increasing customer’s satisfaction. Working in partnership with the supply base to deliver a product that fits and flatters.
What you will do
1. To fit all products ensuring that the buyers brief is followed
2. To write fit comments for the suppliers and to be the technical liaison
3. To approve graded size charts
4. To ensure that the fit is consistent across the range.
5. To assist in the management and development of the basic block library
6. Approve care labelling and testing requirements as well as communication decisions to the supplier.
7. Organises and co-ordinate wearer trials.
8. To ensure that all suppliers follow supplier compliance, challenge, and manage underperformance where necessary.
9. Actively participates in monitoring all returns and customer feed back.
10. To have the ability to read and advise on test reports and advise on the suitability of fabrics.
11. Where possible to visit supply base regularly and be able to comment on the supplier factories capability to meet requirements
12. To assist in the maintenance of the supplier manual
13. Regularly visit stores and work closely with retail colleagues (where relevant)
14. Oversee the critical path management from the technical department with the Buying team.
15. To stay informed about relevant product safety, legislation, and standards to ensure that product complies with these through product evaluation and risk assessment.
What you will bring
16. A relevant qualification at degree or equivalent level
17. Experience of the manufacturing environment, preferably within garment technology, pattern cutting, grading and product development
18. In-depth understanding of different fabric shape and fit, i.e jersey, wovens etc
19. Adequate experience in either a retailer or supplier, ideally aminimum of 3 years’ experience at similar level
20. Experience of working within a multiple brand retailer preferable
21. Ability to convey technical detail clearly to a layman
22. Proficient user of Microsoft and excel.
23. Exceptional communication, organisation & prioritisation skills
24. Effective communicator, presenter and team player
25. Ability to adopt a flexible approach when required and to think swiftly
26. Excellent time management and organisation skills
27. Confident working in a fast-paced environment and able to prioritise projects
28. Proactive and keen to take on new tasks
