Job overview
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed individual to our team here on Ward 7. Our team pride themselves on exceeding the expectation of our patients and their families and work very closely as a team to support each other in our everyday work.
Ward 7 is a busy ward looking for an individual to provide a warm and welcoming approach to all patients, staff and visitors attending the ward. The ideal candidate will take leadership in the management and organisation of patient records, admissions, transfers and discharges using the appropriate IT systems.
Main duties of the job
The ideal candidate will have good communication and IT skills, keeping the IT systems live at all times. You will need to be able to deal with sensitive, confidential information in an appropriate manner. You will need to be able to respond to ward requests from ward staff and deliver to other parts of the hospital.
Your main responsibility will be to liaise with the senior nurse in charge and provide a welcoming approach to all visitors to the unit. You will need to work with minimal supervision providing administrative support to the ward team.
Person specification
Education
* Basic numeracy and literacy
* ECDL or equivalent or willingness to undertake
Experience
* Have a demonstrable understanding of general office equipment i.e. computer, fax
* Knowledge of clerical/admin systems and processes
* Previous clerical experience within health care/office setting
Skills
* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, using both written and verbal means
* Experience of and ability to influence colleagues
* Ensures that own actions support equality, diversity, rights and maintain quality
* IT skills at basic level – word processing, databases, email, internet searching
* Awareness of the NHS structure and current issues
