Description PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES Area Role & Responsibility Communication Provide accurate, up to date information to enable effective deployment of the People campus team. To promote positive and constructive relationships on site with the Management teams across the Wincanton sites. Ensure holiday procedures are followed and responses given in a timely manner. Escalate any issues that are likely to affect the performance of the department or relationship with the customer to the Operations Managers as required. Be approachable, open, honest and fair, leading by example. Legislation Report accidents / near misses / incidents immediately Ensure team members and self operates in line with all company, customer and site procedures. Ensure that the team meet all eligibility to work criteria and ensure working schedules are in line with people policies and working time regulations. Health and Safety Ensure team complies with health and safety legislation Assist the sites H&S managers to ensure the team members have the required knowledge and training of all of the sites that they may be required to work in. Performance Has knowledge of health and safety legislation to ensure team members adhere to all safe working practices. Manage, motivate and lead a team to ensure customer KPI’s, performance targets and absence levels are met. Ensure correct control of labour to ensure that all tasks are performed to the highest standards, checking performance and attendance of teams throughout the shift. Monitor performance, timekeeping and absence levels of team members and document as required. Understand and embrace the culture of the sites and actively participate in developing an open / honest environment. Colleagues Proactively advertise, interview, and recruit the People campus team. Effectively manage ongoing plans in place to backfill any leavers within the team to ensure that supply to the sites is not impacted. Work with the team members and the site management teams to be able to offer flexibility in work patterns, days of work, weekly hours, start and end times, ensuring that we accommodate the team members where we can by understanding the full demand across all sites within the campus. To have proactive conversations with onsite agency workers to effectively move them from temporary workers to permanent Wincanton colleagues as needed. To work with the sites management teams to fully understand all of the qualifications, training, certification and MHE across the operations to be able to build and maintain a skills matrix for the campus team. To highly skill the appropriate team members, across all of the skilled tasks and roles across the whole campus so they are able to effectively backfill any short term absence across the sites. To effectively plan and communicate team members personal rotas in advance so they understand what site and rolled and day and time they are needed. Ensuring they are correctly paid for hours worked. To collaborate with the site management teams, influencing where needed, to ensure that the labour pool resource and skill base is effectively deployed to deliver the best outcome for Wincanton as a whole. Ensure sickness and absence are proactively highlighted to individuals and ensure return to work interviews are completed in a timely manner. KRONOS exceptions are managed effectively. Commercial Ensure performance reviews are conducted in line with site procedures and issues / development identified and acted upon. Identify and advise staff in an appropriate manner of errors and maintain historical data, take action as necessary, training, briefing and disciplinary action. Ensure any disciplinary action is carried out following company procedures and documented accordingly. Lead by example, resolve any issues on a day-to-day basis. Demonstrate a commercial awareness and understand the contractual operating environment. Understand the operational issues that arise and integrate with other departments on matters affecting the whole operation, across all the sites. General Attend any relevant training sessions provided by Wincanton to ensure you are fully equipped to perform your role effectively especially relating to safety courses. Any other duties as reasonably required to ensure the efficient operation of the site Provide accurate, up to date information to enable effective deployment of the labour campus team. NATURE AND SCOPE The jobholder is a key member of the Group Operations management team and will be responsible for this successful day today running of the Greenford people campus team. The jobholder needs to ensure the team is highly motivated and working in accordance with legal and company procedures across all of the sites. The jobholder needs to manage a large team with multiple different shift patterns, differing contracted hours and varying skill levels The jobholder needs to ensure that as required practices are carried out in line with the company union agreement promoting good industrial relations. DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY Counselling of team members, investigating situations and disciplinary action up to written warning stage. Lead by example resolve any issues on a day to day, investigate all grievances in line with company policy up to stage 1.
