Uffculme School is looking for a committed, skilled and enthusiastic English teacher to join its team. The school has grown rapidly over the past three years and the number of classes has been increased to help accommodate the number of pupils attending Uffculme.
Uffculme School offers co-education for children and young people of the ages 3 to 19 years from all parts of the city. Our students represent the wide cultural mix that makes up the general population of Birmingham. We are a successful school with a long and proven track record of providing high quality education for young people with a primary diagnosis of ASD. We currently cater for over 300 children across three sites.
The successful candidate for this post will be able to evidence their contribution to date in school and community environments in teaching English and phonics, as well as demonstrate their ability to work as part of a wider team to support staff in achieving the best possible outcomes for our students.

We require a candidate who:
· Is an outstanding qualified teacher – with significant experience of teaching English in more than 1 Key Stage
· Is ready to take on and develop a middle leadership role
· Understands the responsibilities of a core subject middle leader
· Understanding of high-quality teaching and learning strategies, and the ability to model this for others and support others to improve
· Has the skills and passion to lead the teaching and learning of English and the wider curriculum across all key stages
· Has experience of delivering Phonics and Early/Pre reading skills
· Understanding of how to adapt teaching to meet pupils’ needs
· Has significant experience of working with children and young people with special needs, specifically ASC
· Has experience of working with and leading teaching assistants to develop and deliver outstanding and creative classroom practice, enabling environments and outstanding teaching and learning.
· Ability and confidence to deliver other curriculum subjects as necessary
· Is able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
