What's involved with this role: Temporary Information Advice & Guidance Advisor/Admin Job Ref: Barnsley TCL 0009 5E73 / 1 Pay Rate: £14.17 per hour PAYE Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours Role Length: This opening assignment is for 2 months City: BARNSLEY Enhanced DBS disclosure required Hybrid working - required to work within the Barnsley area 3 days each week A highly motivated and enthusiastic Information Advice and Guidance practitioner who is passionate about supporting both unemployed residents and helping them progress towards, or into, education, employment or training opportunities, and in work residents to access suitable training to help them upskill. You will need to be enthusiastic, determined and engaging with good communication skills and a positive outlook. Expected to encourage, motivate and empower customers providing support to help them overcome any barriers and fulfil their potential. Need to have an understanding of the local labour market, including key employers, as well as being knowledgeable about a range of local and national providers who can support health, wellbeing, learning and training opportunities. The ability to keep accurate reports of meetings is a key requirement for the role, but you should also be organised, responsive and flexible to meet, and support, the needs of the residents. You should be able to support job seekers with developing and updating a CV as well as assisting with job applications and providing support for interviews. Key Responsibilities: Identify and assess the holistic needs, and any barriers of adults and young people and record the results using contract compliant and quality assured mechanisms to provide a baseline from which progress and achievement can be measured. Be flexible and adaptable to adults and young people’s needs, meeting with them in their community, in their homes and places they feel comfortable in. Prepare clear and concise person-centred SMART Action Plans, reviewing on a regular basis, ensuring both qualitative and quantitative data can be extracted, in one-to-one sessions and in group sessions both on site and in outreach locations as appropriate. Plan and deliver relevant, high-quality activities and interventions to individuals and groups to support progression. Facilitate effective and efficient job search activities relevant to the skills and abilities of the individual and their proximity to the labour market. Support, motivate, facilitate and direct individuals experiencing barriers to employment to engage in relevant activities and interventions which support their progression to education, employment and training. Track the progress of adults and young people, provide in-work support or undertake other required activities to ensure successful education, employment or training outcomes Maintain up to date information on a complex range of issues both in the local community and across the Borough covering numerous agendas, signposting and making appropriate referrals to other departments and organisations as required. Demonstrate up to date knowledge of the local labour market to inform planning of or referral to relevant interventions or activities which ensure adult / young person’s progress towards, into and sustained employment. Maintain accurate records and report performance as required. Qualifications: Minimum Level 3 IAG qualification, or a minimum 2 years’ experience of working in a employment focused role GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths. Knowledge: Some knowledge of support organisations and the services they offer and options available to support people who are experiencing challenges and barriers. An understanding of issues around unemployment, welfare to work and current Government initiatives. An understanding of, acceptance and commitment to the principles underlying the Safeguarding of vulnerable young people and adults. An understanding of how to support adults and young people in work. Experience: Experience of working with adults and young people and supporting them to develop their resilience and motivation Some experience of engaging adults and young people who have experienced barriers and challenges Experience of preparing individual SMART Action Plans in the context of skills and employability. Experience of undertaking and utilising a range of assessment approaches and resources to identify an individual’s needs. Experience of providing information and advice relating to volunteering, education, training, employment, health and welfare. Skills & Abilities: Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
