We’re looking for a pro-active, passionate, and motivated 8B Principal Clinical Psychologist to join our local Youth Justice Service based within Suffolk County Council. This post offers the opportunity to work indirectly, supporting teams and practitioners within their direct work; and offers many opportunities to promote and enhance psychological knowledge, understanding, and practice.
Main duties of the job
1. Providing clinical supervision to YJS practitioners, and staff involved in working with young people displaying Harmful Sexual Behaviour.
2. Providing consultation to YJS practitioners to indirectly support the delivery of interventions.
3. Facilitating psychologically informed case formulations with CYP’s professional networks.
4. Providing a key role in supporting continuous staff development through bespoke training and support as identified.
5. Working in conjunction with operational managers to support consistency with practice.
6. Providing and contributing significantly to the psychologically-informed practice of the team.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology, or its equivalent, including eligibility for chartered status with the BPS.
* Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
* Evidence of CPD in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
Experience
* Specialist complex psychological assessment and treatment of people with a wide range of mental health problems.
* Relevant experience in service area.
* Extensive experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist.
* Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups and presenting problems.
* Teaching, training and delivering clinical supervision.
Skills
* Assessment, evaluation and management of risk associated with mental ill health.
* Well-developed communication skills for conveying complex information.
* Production of reports suitable for public presentations.
Knowledge
* Knowledge of specialised psychological therapies in difficult to treat groups.
* Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS.
Other
* Commitment to continuing professional development.
* Ability to travel independently.
