Job Description
We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority based in the West Midlands, who are recruiting for a Legal Services Manager to lead the Governance & Regulatory Team on an initial 3-month locum basis.
The position is due to start immediately, with attendance in the West Midlands twice per week, and the hourly rate of pay is negotiable based on experience and PQE, via an Umbrella company.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience of handling matters relating to one or more areas of the team including Governance, FOI, SAR, Data Protection, prosecutions and licensing.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
* Undertaking and supervising complex legal work relating to all areas of law in Corporate Services, including Information Governance, Prosecutions, Licensing and Business Support
* Handling a variety of legal matters including, Governance, Data Protection/UK GDPR, Freedom of Information/Environmental Information requests, member misconduct issues, the Localism Act 2011, Regulatory work and Committee work
* Managing the Governance and Regulatory services team
* Acting as the Council’s Data Protection Officer
Experience required:
* Qualified Solicitor/CILEx/Barrister
* Ideally 5 years+ PQE
* Previous management experience is ideal
Working hours:
* 37 hours per week
