The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining housing units and buildings on behalf of York Property Management in assigned Locations. The Maintenance Technician works in collaboration with the Cleaning Associate, the Resident Manager and reports to the Community Manager. Priorities change regularly in this position and the employee must be flexible and willing to change responsibilities as required.
This position will be assigned to various buildings within Windsor and so a valid G license and access to a personal vehicle is required. York will provide a PetroCanada gas card with a monthly limit of $200 (This can be reviewed upwards as needed).
Our target hiring rate is $20 – We aren’t looking for an expert at anything, just someone who has a little bit of experience in plumbing, electrical (changing light fixtures), drywall, painting and is reliable.
Responsibilities
1. Maintain housing units to ensure the units are safe and in an adequate condition:
* Complete daily work requests in Property Management software system, including minor repairs of electrical, plumbing, hardware, flooring, and carpentry.
* Repairs to minor electrical, plumbing and water systems.
* Repairs to minor carpentry and install flooring.
* Repair damages to finishes, drywall, ceilings, and flooring as required.
* Repair, Install and dispose of appliances including stoves, refrigerators, microwaves, dishwashers and washing machines.
* Paint units and hallways and suite turnovers when required.
* Complete renovations in kitchens and bathrooms in turnovers as required.
* Complete or assist in daily, weekly and monthly Fire Inspection requirements.
* Complete daily inspections, including building systems inspections, fire safety walk-throughs, exterior grounds inspections.
* Perform preventive maintenance on fire alarms, appliances, dryer venting, and in suite air handlers.
* Assist with weekly garbage and recycling pick up, as well as chute maintenance.
* Assist with power washing of the parking garage, sidewalks, and terraces as needed.
* Coordinating with vendors and contractors to complete work on the property.
* Inspect heat coil systems to make sure they are in working order.
* Providing access and supervise vendors and contractors to perform contracted work.
* Clean up after any activities conducted.
1. Perform administrative duties:
* Keep a daily log of tasks completed and track comments and progress in Propertyware.
* Follow a preventative maintenance schedule for the property.
* Maintain equipment and tools.
* Order stock supplies.
1. Carry and respond to emergency maintenance phone line on rotation.
1. Perform other related duties as required.
