Job Title: Senior Lawyer - Abuse and Social Care Location: Hybrid (3 days a week in the office) Manchester or London PQE: 5 Years A disruptive new law firm committed to streamlining the legal dispute resolution process is seeking to engage a Senior Lawyer – Abuse and Social Care to join its law practice. The law firm utilises technology, artificial intelligence, automation and standardisation to make the smaller dispute resolution processes simpler and more efficient. The candidate should also feel at ease using technology and be both curious and eager to find ways to incorporate its use into the legal process. About the Role: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Lawyer to join our Abuse and Social Care department. This hybrid role requires a qualified solicitor or lawyer with 5 years PQE and a proven track record in claimant or defendant abuse and social care work. You will manage your own caseload with minimal supervision, while also having the opportunity to assist in large, complex cases as needed. You will be expected to work closely with clients, other legal professionals, and support staff to deliver exceptional service. Key Responsibilities: Manage a caseload of abuse and social care files independently, including but not limited to care home claims, child sexual exploitation claims, institutional abuse, sports abuse, and human rights claims. Provide expert legal advice and representation to clients, ensuring high standards of service and outcomes. Handle pre-litigation and litigation matters with a focus on achieving the best possible outcomes for clients. Support junior team members, offering guidance and assistance on complex cases. Assist in larger, multi-party or complex cases when required. Supervise and mentor junior lawyers, including target setting, performance appraisals, and fostering professional development. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and case law, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Contribute to business development and client relationship management. What You’ll Need to Succeed: A qualified solicitor or lawyer with 5 years PQE in abuse and social care work (either claimant or defendant). Proven experience in managing and litigating abuse and social care claims with strong pre-litigation and litigation skills. Experience in handling a varied caseload, including complex or sensitive matters. Demonstrated supervisory experience, including mentoring junior lawyers, setting targets, and conducting performance appraisals. Excellent communication and client relationship skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment. A strong commitment to achieving the best outcomes for vulnerable clients.
