We are currently looking for a Mobile Concrete Field Technician to join our friendly South Wales / Southwest ready-mix team-based at Tarmac Stancombe Laboratory in Bristol. The role of Mobile Technician is working in the laboratory as well as on site as part of a team that supports operations covering sites at Bristol with back up to Llanwern, Coleford, as well as back up to RMX plants in other areas. This role is accessible from Bristol, Newport, Chepstow, Forest of Dean, Gloucester Weston Super Mare, Bridgwater and Bath, and the surrounding areas. At Tarmac, ‘who you are’ matters. Main Responsibilities Reporting directly to the Technical Supervisor, the role of Mobile Concrete Field Technician will be responsible for: Testing will also include the crushing of the concrete cubes constructed from the other mobile field technicians within the South West and Wales region at a set period in a mechanical crushing machine and inputting the results daily onto SAP Testing will be carried out to the highest safety standards and within your manual handling capabilities Sampling, testing, and curing of Ready-mix Concrete from Tarmac’s Supplying concrete plants and customer sites to relevant British standards Complete all concrete cube information/ curing records/ booking in forms accurately and ensure all samples are returned to the main Bristol lab for curing within the specified period Ensuring the quality of the materials is always monitored for both internal and external customers. Always adhering to company Health and Safety proceduresThe Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate for the role of Mobile Concrete Field Technician will have experience in the construction or aggregates sector and will possess knowledge of concrete, aggregate and/or production. We do, however, welcome applications from candidates without experience as full training will be provided. This role Technician role is not a typical ‘lab coat’ laboratory type of role – it is a vital hands-on site-based role, wearing PPE and working in a small team closely supporting our operational concrete plants and customer sites. Suitable candidates for the role of Mobile Concrete Field Technician will: Be hard working and self-motivated Have excellent communication skills and be able to liaise with stakeholders of varying seniority levels Be accurate in their work and demonstrate strong attention to detail Can identify potential risks/issues (training will be provided) Be able to work independently and to collaborate as part of a wider team Be IT literate.
