Senior Archaeologist (Fieldwork Supervisor) / Principal Archaeologist (Fieldwork Project Officer)
We are looking for an experienced Archaeologist to support our growing Carlisle office and to supervise fieldwork on projects of all scales, either working independently on smaller jobs, supervising teams on larger projects or leading teams on small-scale trenching jobs. You may also support larger scale works leading a smaller team within wider delivery, reporting to the Project Lead and taking direction from them. Our ideal candidate would have experience of work at this level.
Our Senior Archaeologists support us with writing up reports, completing smaller scale reports (with support from our wider team), and making significant contributions to larger scale reporting. To this end you should have or be willing to develop your report writing skills, working understanding of Harris Matrix software, and the ability to interpret your findings on site.
We have a range of projects in our pipeline of work in the coming months, which include both local/regional jobs and those which require working away, for which we offer generous terms as outlined below. When not on site you will be expected to attend the office on a hybrid basis, for full time staff this is 3 days out of 5.
Ideally you have:
* Practical experience supervising work on site.
* Comprehensive awareness of Risk Assessment and keeping your team safe on site.
* Experience delivering commercial archaeology.
* A degree in Archaeology (combined honours acceptable) or equivalent experience.
* Driving license.
Desirable:
* CIfA Membership at PCIfA of ACIfA level.
* SSSTS Qualification.
