Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Orthopaedic Theatre Scrub Nurse to join our established team of practitioners. Our operating theatres, located at Kings Mill Hospital with 14 theatres, as well as 2 theatres at Newark Hospital and a minor operations suite, support a broad range of specialties.
We provide high-quality care in areas such as Obstetrics, Emergencies, Upper GI, Vascular, Breast, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, Colorectal, Orthopaedics, and Gynaecology.
This role offers a unique opportunity to be a key part of the orthopaedic theatre team, assisting in a variety of complex surgeries, and ensuring that our patients receive safe, efficient, and effective care. As an Orthopaedic Scrub Nurse, you will play a crucial role in maintaining sterile technique, providing clinical support during surgery, and contributing to the overall patient experience within our busy theatres.
In addition to your clinical responsibilities, you will also benefit from close collaboration with our Clinical Education Department Leader, focusing on your professional development. You will have the chance to further enhance your skills and knowledge through training and the maintenance of NMC/HCP standards. • Access, plan, implement and evaluate holistic, high quality and individualised care which respects patient personal dignity and beliefs
• Maintain a safe working environment for patients, visitors and staff
• Maintain and promote effective communication within the care team and with colleagues, patients' relatives and visitors
• Act as a mentor to students, including teaching and assessing, within their realm of competence, upholding the philosophy of evidence-based practice
• Maintain a professional profile and develop skills, knowledge and competencies adhering to the NMC code of professional conduct and Trust policies and procedures
• Act as a patient advocate
• Be aware of the responsibilities of all employees to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors and other staff members
